FOS Hay Fundraiser

For many years South Makirikiri School community spends the summer months picking up conventional hay bales. All the money raised goes back to providing opportunities for the students to experience a range of activities. In recent years the turf was developed as part of the money raised and the last two years money has contributed to EOTC (Camp experiences)

For 2023 we need someone to pick up being the key contact for contractors to touch base with where there are jobs to do. This person does not need to be at every hay pick up but more the key contact and then distribute the messages to the community. It is then the school community gets along to help out.

If this is something you feel you could help take on please give Rob Simpson a call on 0273267626 to discuss what is involved.

Year 8 Parents

Good afternoon, camp is going well and the children are enjoying themselves even with the rain we have experienced today.

Sadly due to the weather forecasted for tomorrow we will not be taking the risk of attempting the Tongariro crossing.
As a class we will head to Waiouru Army Museum and do the education programme and after that we will head back to school, arriving around 2:30pm. The students will be informed shortly, and while they might be disappointed their safety is our number one concern.

We have been having a great time adapting and moving around our experiences to fit the challenging weather. They have all been very well behaved. It is a pleasure to be on camp with them.

See you all tomorrow afternoon.

Regards

Run for Charity/ Camp tomorrow.

Due to some unforeseen circumstances, we have adapted how things will run for tomorrow.

Students who are running for Charity/ Camp can wear what they would like for the running apsect. (If they want to dress up they can, if they want to wear a full running kit they can, if they wanted to run in gumboots/work boots/ trainers/ running shoes or even bare feet they can.

The whole school will have the opportunity to walk/ run between 11:30-12:30. Some classes are striving to run for longer which they are managing themselves.

Students need to bring a towel and change of clothes as we will be having some fun around the course with them. (This is weather dependant)

This is a fun activity getting the students out exercising and potentially raising some funds for a charity of their choice or towards their camp costs. It is not compulsory but class teachers are providing the opportunity for this to happen. We are looking forward to a great day pounding the fitness track with the students.
