Dear Parents, Caregivers & Whanau,
FRIENDS OF THE SCHOOL – TERM 3 MEETING
The South Makirikiri Friends of the School is a group of parents and caregivers, who work together to give the students the added extras. In the past this has included: class music lessons, art murals, fully funded camps, swimming lessons, Year 8 Leavers’ jerseys, ice skating trips, contributions to the turf and to ICT, just to name a few.
Alannah Marino is taking over as Chairperson, which is super exciting and we would also love some new members, so please come along to our Term 3 meeting – Tuesday 23rd August, 7.00 pm, in the school staffroom. All welcome.
South Makirikiri Friends of the School (FOS) is a group of parents that work together to give the students of South Makirikiri School the added extras.
Our biggest fundraiser of the year is picking up hay, this happens in January and February. Throughout the year we also run a variety of other fundraisers, which in the past, has included the Santoft Forest Run, sausage sizzles, morning teas, pie orders etc.
From the incredible FOS fundraising we have been able to give our students many exciting opportunities. Last year these included: camps for the whole school, tennis lessons, art lessons and murals, library books, Year 8 leavers’ jerseys, ice skating lessons, picnic tables – just to name a few!!!!!
The FOS run termly meetings where we discuss up and coming events, potential fundraisers and how we should spend our hard earned dollars. These meetings are very casual and are a great way of meeting parents from within the school, they are also not a huge commitment.
We are extremely thankful to Alannah Marino who is stepping up as the new Chairperson. It would be fantastic to have some new members and welcome you to attend our Term 3 meeting on Tuesday 23rd August at 7.00pm, in the school staffroom.
Please like / message us on Facebook – South Makirikiri School Friends of School or send an email fos@southmak.school.nz.
We look forward to seeing some of you at our next meeting.
Ngā mihi,
South Makirikiri Friends of the School committee
